Food | Berry Crumble Pie

A week ago my mom and I were craving something sweet and with berries.

We went on the hunt for the berries and the rest of the ingredients to bake something along the lines of a pie and a crumble.

Fitness Kick!

Hey Everyone!

Today I was thinking on how I was being so lazy and doing no exercise at all. On the morning I decided to do something about it and do it NOW. So I have made myself of a little at home routine which is super easy and effective for me.

Normally I would have done an hour long of my stationary bicycle and them do some crunches and legs and many more localized exercises. This was like 3 or 4 years ago while I was still at high-school. I have now figured out that since I am in college I left over this routine because of lack of time and it was just not in my priority list.

stationary bicycle

Today I planned this quick, not really time consuming "fitness space" for me to do. It consists of 20 mins on my bicycle separated in 2 times a day. That makes 10 mins in the AM and 10 mins in the PM. I know it seems such a small time and that it will not do a thing for me, but as you know to go from nothing to go to something is really going to help kick start your metabolism again after a long period of time of doing nothing at all.

Here is how it will work for me. I will try to increase the time after a couple of weeks doing this first part of 10-10, 5 more mins in each daily session. That will leave me with 30 mins of cardio daily which is nice and I will not feel it that much. It is just not that time consuming for my busy schedule and I will still have my fitness regime with my new (rediscovered) healthy eating habits.

That is all for this post, I just wanted to let you guys know my little new routine and hope it helps you get into the fitness kick I had today specially if you are a busy person and are just lacking movement in your life!

I hope you are having a great weekend! (just one more day to Easter!Who's excited?)

Flexitarianism: Yay or Nay?

Hey Guys!

I was browsing through the internet and came across this term. Flexitarianism. I was so curious that I decided to some research and found out that it is a way of living. A healthier one.

They are like vegetarians but they get their proteins from lean meats and dairy products but get their basic diet plan is based on fruits, vegetables and grains. They say that a flexitarian way of eating is what nutritionists all around the world have been recommending all around the world for some time now and that more and more people are making it happen. Nutritionists recommend this way of eating because it's good to eat a low saturated fats diet high in fibre.

People who follow this trend are more likely to follow the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables than most people and obtain more benefits from them. This means that their health is going to be a boost of good fats and the metabolism working better and therefore people are going to be thinner and have less risks of strokes.

I think it is a yay, because of the benefits.

What do you think, are you willing to try Flexitarianism, Yay or Nay?

Healthy Spotlight: Mangos

I have been recently obsessing over mangos, to be honest I think I've loved them since I was little so I just wanted to share some health benefits this fruit gives to you.

  • It is rich in pre-biotic dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds.
  • According to new research study, mango fruit has been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. Several trial studies suggest that polyphenolic anti-oxidant compounds in mango are known to offer protection against breast and colon cancers.
  • Mango fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin-A. Vitamin A is also required for maintaining healthy skin.
So it has a lot of benefits for your health and it is a yummy smelling and tasting fruit, very tropical and summery.

I hope you liked this post.

Are you a mango lover?

Back to College/University: Eating habits

Hey guys!

Now that university and college classes are about to start, people are concerned that while they study they are going to have less time to concentrate on their eating habits and that they might gain  weight while they do so. I am one of those people that are concerned and just don't know how to balance the hectic life of university or college.

After many months trying to loose weight and seemed to be doing well for a time, i can now say that something that seemed difficult (while eating at college cafeteria or elsewhere) has now become a lot easier. I normally pack my own lunch and find a place where i can eat it peacefully and enjoy it. I normally pack a good piece of meat (either chicken or turkey) and a potato and some steamed veggies. And to drink just a water bottle and sometimes, when it gets too cold, i buy a cup of coffee. It is always a good idea to pack a fruit also so you can snack on it at mid morning or if you have late classes to eat them at mid afternoon a couple hours later than lunch so that you don't feel hunger.

A small tip: If you feel hunger and don't have a fruit at your reach it the time and all you have is a water bottle, you just drink some of it and the feeling will end up like a relieve for your stomach.

I hope you guys find this post helpful!

Yummy Mango Juice

Hey guys!

So today has been just a little interesting, i went to have some drinks with a couple of my very deer friends because one them is going to study to the U.S in Kansas in just two days and we needed desperately to see each other before the good-bye and we went to this place and I was not in the mood to ask for coffee so i decided that i was going to have a juice.

I scanned through the menu to see what fruits they had available and my eye got caught in a raspberry juice, so i decided to go for it. Unfortunately, my dreams were crashed when the waitress said to me that they were out of raspberries. Disappointed as I was, started scanning the menu again and settled finally for a mango juice. They did had Mango and OMG! it was the best juice i've ever tried! It was heaven in my mouth and seemed to me that the fruit was supper fresh and sweet that they didn't had to put any sugar in it.

So after the disappointing experience with the raspberries, my second choice was so worth it!

Tell me, what is your go-to juice?

Final Exams: Healthy Snack options.

Hey Guys!

My birthday is this Sunday and i am so exited but also not so much. I am turning 20! this is a big deal, at least for me because i am not going to be a teen anymore! and i think from 20 and up people just start to notice more what you say and do. 20 is a more "mature" number.

This week i am in final exams and i finish on Wednesday. I think that when I start this time of the semester i start eating more, and maybe it's because i get more anxious because of all the study i have to do. And mental work is a very draining and tiring.

So what i like to eat while i have these sessions is pop corn with almost no salt and having something to munch on while reading is the best so that you also have that extra energy needed to focus on the topics you are looking at.
Another food that i like to eat is apples, or any fruit actually, but i like the most apples so that i get those vitamins to  keep me awake and not sleepy.

Tuna is a good option to have with some crackers because it has Omega 3 and 6 that is really good for your brain to keep going and creating synapses between your neurons. Synapses are the connections that your brain creates when learning new things and experiences all the time. So tuna will help you a lot to get extra strength in your brain. Actually any fish can do the job but canned tuna is really good if you want a snack that wont take that much of your study time.

I hope you guys liked this post and hope to be helpful!

Meal Diary: Monday&Tuesday

Hey Everyone!

So I have been eating really good lately and specially i had no idea that i was good at cooking!
Making these meals have made me realize the importance that a perfect balance makes and to know how to mix the things you eat.

For the past days, Monday and Tuesday, i ate:

Monday:

  • Breakfast: a bowl of special K with milk
  • Lunch: A chicken filled in with asparagus and Edam cheese. with steamed vegies and just a little ampunt of rice.
  • Dinner: an orange and half a banana
Tuesday:
  • Breakfast: A bowl of special K with milk (it's my go to breakfast, and it is easy and healthy)
  • Lunch: A chicken kind of soup with potatoes and raisins and carrots and a little rice by the side. (here in Peru we have to have rice as our side dish, we are characterized by that.)
  • Dinner: A bowl of oatmeal and an orange.
These are all the things that have gotten into my tummy and i feel really happy about it. It's not too much food and it is well balanced in order not to lack of anything.

I cooked the first dish on monday, lunch. and i think it was pretty awesome that i can actually cook! this is a big deal! now i can live alone and not starve! hahaha

such a drama lady.

I will attach a picture when i download them to my computer.

So what have you been eating? tell me about it in the comments below :)

Friday Fun

Happy Friday!

So today the sun came out, the birds are singing and everything seems happy and with a magical aura.

As the sun came out, i am in the mood to eat a fruit salad and drink a lot of water. If there's something that i could live of during a sunny day is from fruits and fresh veggies. I love they way they freshen up the body and the water contained within them is so good for us. Also, a good complement for them, and the amount of vitamins they provide, is the Sun, some good sun baths are perfect to fix those vitamins, but also use sunscreen to prevent damaging your skin. I recommend SPF 45 and higher to have a good care for it.

Sunny days are the best to go and do an outdoor sport, if you like, go for a hike, run around the park nearest to you, take your dog for a walk (if you have a dog, of course) have some fun in the sun, as many people say. And of course if you live near a beach, it is the perfect way to enjoy the sea and the sun, call your friends and hang out!

I am in a really good mood and therefore i think i might go out and walk my doggies for a while and enjoy this beautiful day !

Have a Wonderful day!

XO
