Health | Eating better on Dukan Principles
It is so hard to stay on track, specially when you have a ton of friends and office friends and family who are mayor into going out to eat or drink. Eating is the worst thing for me, because I have been in a love affair with it for quite some time bording the 2.5 year anniversary.

Health | GM Diet Diary: Day 2
After having an awfully hangry day on day 1, I can say that day 2 was not that bad. I felt a little more energized, a bit more bubbly and a wee bit more productive. Everything went pretty well.

Health | GM Diet Diary: Day 1
To be honest, I struggled this first day. It consisted on eating fruits, preferably cantaloup, papaya and watermelon (which I totally went for because who doesn’t like a big plate of tropical fruits - minus the pineapple) and ended up eating way more and taking bathroom breaks pretty frequently because of all the water from those fruits.

Health | GM Diet Diary: Introduction
A few months ago I was doing great, I was really back in my healthy eating habits, we had a trip coming up, I wanted to be a little lower in weight for that time and once the trip came around, I had made some progress.

Healthy Spotlight: Chia seeds
Bringing these posts back from the memory box.
Today I will tell you about something that I have been doing extensive research during the last couple of years (Which to me feel like just a couple months ago).
Chia seeds come from a dessert plant called Salvia Hispanica, which is grown in Mexico dating back from the Maya and Aztec cultures in which they were used as energy boosters.
The seeds are filled with omega-3, carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, antioxidants, calcium and phosphorus. They can be processed by the body. Therefore they are considered to be a superfood.
As they contain water soluble fiber, it expands in the stomach giving the sensation of being full, eat less and improve intestinal health. It helps reduce fat and makes it longer for the increase of sugar in the blood which gives anxiety and therefore makes you eat less snacks.
Chia seeds also represent a good source of calcium being more assimilable than milk's in 500%. Contains magnesium whcih is present in broccoli and has more than 1400% than that same vegetable. The seeds are also rich in phosphorus, iron, antioxidants, selenium and has more fiber than any other regular cereal.
I have introduced chia into my diet and it has been a great nutritional complement. I have seen some good results, I wont say I have more energy, but I do feel more active, and my skin is a little brighter, my nails stronger and my hair is a little shinnier.
The reccomendations they make are that you consume around two table spoons of chia seeds daily, because in that way you will get all the benefits presents in them.
It is important that you get to know that there are also some health repercussions and it is said that people with cardiac problems or with diabetes should stay away from them because of the different symptoms they may have to their illnesses. Also people with digestive problems should avoid its consumption because it may cause them irritations.
Here is where I put my disclaimer: I am not a doctor nor a nutritionist to tell you what to eat or what not to eat, the thing is that I am really into nutrition and do some research by my own and consult with some friends the different benefits they have found to get when eating different food.
I am not a picky eater, I actually would try anything (well not anything, I try to stay away from fried bugs or anything that crawls and has no backbone).
I like to have my chia sprinkled over salads, fruit salads, with oatmeal, oatbran, in homemade bread, in actually anything that I can eat and combine.
I have found several recipes of a chia pudding. But I have tried the following one from Peanut Butter and Peppers which I leave you all the link here.
In general, Chia seeds have been a great discovery for me ever since I first heard of them. I have made more indepth analysis on the exports, imports and more International business related studies for project matters, but maybe someday I will write about it.

Run
On a rather gloomy Sunday morning I decided it was time to run. It was really refreshing and I had fun at it. It was the first time I ran in the morning and I feel brand new.
Here a peak of my neighborhood's park:
I will start doing this more often than not, whenever I have the time during the week. I feel motivated and full of energy after that.
Hope you spend a great Sunday!

Amazing Things going on.
For the past few weeks my mom and I embarked on a new life style. I know I've talked about how we were trying to be healthier before, but we failed every time. But this time is different. We have been very strict about it and we are loving it. So let me tell you about this whole new health path that crossed our ways.

What a week!
I've had a really hard week, it was one of those where everything you do goes wrong and just when you thought nothing could go worse than that, it does. I was desperate! I had build up too much stress that I felt my head was going to explode and all of my body was feeling horribly heavy. I ate due to anxiety (probably way too much that I gained a pound...)
In conclusion, it was horrible! and yes, Monday started and seemed to be a good week, but by Wednesday it was just unbearable. I tried my best not to break down, but that night I couldn't handle it any more.
Exercise! yes, that was the solution. The answer I've been looking for all along those horrid days. I have been on a bad relationship with working out lately. I haven't moved a muscle (literally) in almost a month and a half and it could be longer than that (at least it feels that way).
Doing cycling has always made me feel better and it has an extraordinary effect on my nerves. In that way, I started riding my stationary one. In just 30 mins, it does the charm.I felt relieved and happy. It was all I needed. And I feel more inspired than ever!! I want to keep it up and switch up my routine.

The reason why I stopped exercising was that I had no time, and I love to so, but finding the space is not so easy, 30 mins in the stationary is good. But having under 30 mins workouts would be so much better. BEACHBODY has developed one that is 25 mins long which give you the same results as an hour long workout with just focusing more on the intensity, putting in practice the saying "quality over quantity". I am seriously eyeing it, it seems like so much fun and it might help me relax! which I need more now that I study and work. It is called the FOCUS T25. The launch date is yet to be announced , but you can subscribe to their e-mail list and be one of the first people to know it and get it. I have already joined it so that I can be alert to purchase it. It is going to be great for busy people.
Another thing that is going to go great with it is their foam roller, to loosen up muscles after a extraneous exercise so that you are not as soar as you would be later. I like stretching also to loosen up those muscles! I don't want to walk later like a granny (which I feel I am most of the time). How could I forget? to tone those flappy arms (my case totally!) I might purchase their Dumbbell weight set which includes the 3 lbs., 5 lbs., 8 lbs. weights. pretty cool.

If you didn't notice, I am really motivated and excited about working out. I need to keep it that way, that is why i need to switch it up a little sometimes!
Are you trying to workout more? if you already do, how do you stay motivated?
Disclaimer: BEACHBODY contacted me to talk about their new program and the new products they carry. I have worked with them before. I am not receiving any economic compensation or any other type or form of it. All opinions are my own. I have permission to use their photos in this post in order to show the previously mentioned goods.

DETOX

I have heard a lot of things about detox programs. Juices, routines and more. So what do you think of it? is it really healthy to do detox for 3 days and start eating healthier?
I think it might help go back to your healthier habits after messing it up with all the pizza, meat, rice, pasta, chocolate, ice-cream and all that delicious and not-so-good-food-for-you. So maybe it is really good for some people and not so good for others.
I haven't tried any yet, but I am certainly contemplating starting it for 3 days. I found one that might be interesting to follow. It is the Dr.Oz 3 days detox cleanse. I am still a little hesitant but I shall give it a try in the next week or so, maybe not so strict but having the juices replace 2 of the 3 main meals, mostly breakfast and dinner.
I hope it goes well. I think I might blog my experience after so that you guys know how it went. If you are willing to do it with me and support each other, head over to the Dr. Oz website and check it out and then share your experience with me through a comment or linking me your blog post about it in the comments.
