Life | How I started my own business

2017 was an amazing year.

During that time, I got together with one of my dearest friends, who I met through a mutual friend many years ago. I knew he had a business which he wanted to bring afloat after a couple of years being in a hiatus and later, another friend got on board with our vision and everything fell into place. That is how IndiGO started.

In the beginning, we had this completely different idea of what it is now, but it is all about talking, planning, brainstorming and doing it all over again until you are happy with the end product. We offer tech services for businesses ranging from web pages, warehousing controls, administrative processes, etc and we also offer consultations in order to optimize processes, create strategic plans and everything related to getting a business to be on top of its game.

There are a lot of things that go on when you decide to start a company. You have to think of a name, a mission, a vision, the values of your business, your competitors, the market, how much money do you need to start operations, and the list continues for what seems forever, but don't worry, it is doable. At first, it was a little overwhelming, but as we started making decisions, one thing complemented the other.

As my business partners are Information Systems Engineers and I am an International Business Manager, we decided it was fit for us to be a consulting agency. We had the know-how on business and as technology supports business growth, we had the perfect pair with the know-how on technology too.

Setting up the business was so much fun, we had control over what went on in the web page, how we wanted to express what we offer and how it was communicated to our target market.

We had to prepare the launch day, the day that our business started operating through the web page and get social media posts ready to create different intrigue campaigns, of course, we were playing it by ear, but doing this helped us a lot.

During 2018, we hit our 1 year anniversary and had a lot of things prepared, we "party-fied" our social media and had fun doing so.

Having a business has had its ups and downs, but it is to be expected, especially having to deal with change and all.

It is still such a great learning experience, I get to put in practice what I learned while studying business and evaluating what works, what doesn't, who cares and who doesn't, and from there, start changing strategies, swapping ideas and learning how to work with different people.

I feel my business partners and myself have grown in whole new and different level, that we hope it continues to bring us such joy and pleasure doing what we love.

If you have something that you are passionate about, try and find a way to monetize it, if you enjoy what you do, the better you will perform at it. Just keep going and learn from everything that comes  on your way.

I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about my side in the business world.

Have a great time.

Love,

Stephanie.
