October Dreams

As the 10th month of the year has come and almost gone, I have been as crazy as a bee in honey season. I have been slacking in my webson (web + person) status but my lifeson (life +  person)has been great and running.

For me, since stepping into the real world as a full time job person has been a little exhausting but nice. We have a big event coming up in a few weeks and we are just crazy at the office with all the preparations. Most people would think that not having to go to class is a relief, but let me tell you...it ain't a stroll at the beach but I am not complaining at all. It is more of a roller coaster ride where you have ups and downs and turns but nothing that one can't handle.  Which brings me to my next point. I have been doing a lot of planning. Planning, planning, planning a lot of different projects which demand a little research. This is a little survey for me to keep up with one of my projects, and I hope you find it interesting!

Click here to get to the survey. I really appreaciate your support with it.

And remember:

Have a great day!

BCBGMaxAzria coming your way!

This week I was driving to university when I saw a huge add by my local mall (for those of you living in Lima it is Jockey Plaza) that just caught my eye instantly, don't worry I did not crashed or anything...We were stopped because of a traffic jam (the usual you get here at 6 in the afternoon).

BCBGMAXAZRIA is getting a corner in Ripley. I am in love that we are getting more and more things to choose from and options are getting broader and perfect.

Accesories Craving: H&M red wool hat

I have never been a hat person. Actually I've only worn a hat while at the beach and it went flying off because of the wind, but I loved that hat and that was the only time I wore one. But I am seriously smitten for this wool hat. I love it, it comes in various colors, and thanks to my best friend I want to have it now! She was looking online and came across it and we are both in love!

I really like the one in red (it looks more pinkish in the picture), but the blue one also makes a cute statement of color. And don't even get me started on the one in black! it is just the perfect basic neutral color for you to add that perfect spice to your outfit.

This fall (for the people who are in the hemispheres where fall and winter are coming up) is the best way to accessorize and keep a little warmer and way too cute.

It retails for $17.95 and it is way too cute to pass the opportunity to make yourself of one of them.

So if you want to get hold of them (yes, all 3 would be great! haha) click here to go to the H&M site!

Have a nice day and get some shopping done!

Disclaimer: I am not being paid to promote any of the items found in the page, the company is not aware that I am doing this post. The hat is an item I loved and probably will purchase with my own money. All opinions are my own.

Spring. How I've missed you!

Today is actually a day in which Spring is showing it's true colors. I like that very much (except when I go out bundled up in winter clothes and then the sun decides to come out!) and I have been waiting for the hotter days and brighter ones to start appearing so that I can change up my nail polish colors to ones more cheerful and bright. So yes..I did this and painted my nails a kind of coral-y pink nail polish from....can you guess??...*drum roll* Revlon, that is right.

It is called "Kiss me Coral" and it is very pretty. It has very tiny micro glitter and is sort of a pink reflection. It has a holographic effect. I like it very much. Sorry for the picture, but it is the easiest way to take a quick snapshot (from the webcam!) I think I did captured the essence of the whole nail polish, you can see the coral and a little of the pink reflection.

I have found that it is a little too sheer for my taste, that is why I tend to apply 3 coats of it so that the color turns out truer to what it looks like in the bottle.

Sorry for the horrible cuticles and messed up fingers, I haven't been taking that much care of my nails this past days because, well you know, because of this! and now I am back at it. Besides, I tend to bite the sides of my nails when I get really nervous or anxious or stressed.

That is how it looks like with  3 coats of nail polish on. I think it looks pretty and is very spring-y like.

I hope you are having a nice day!

Midterms. Done.

Probably these are the most stressful exams I've took in my life...well maybe not, but they where really close to be THE ones. I had way too much to read. I will probably learn from this and read ahead and study each class by the date. If the midterms were this hard for me, I don't want to imagine just yet how the Finals are going to be. I learned my lesson, don't worry.

Today, I wanted to talk about the bag that I have been carrying for midterms. It is the most pretty rosy, baby pink-ish huge bag. I know, you're probably (I feel I've repeated this word like a million times already) wondering, why on earth you carry that big of a bag for midterms? Well the answer is, because I had two tests every day, and inbetween them I had one or one and a half hours to review the concepts for the upcoming one. Some of the reading I had online, so I needed to get hold of them. Plus, I have this small notebook where I write my summaries and it is just perfect.

I am a crazy girl, and love big bags even if I don't need to carry them. Plus, my bags are always heavy...who knows why...

Of course I had to have my hand sanitizer  with me!

It is so huge and I feel the picture does no justice to it.

I've had it for 2 or 3 years now, and It's been worn so much. It already has some parts where it's peeling, I might have to retire her soon and take her to be renewed and taken care for. The brand is Navigata, I think you can get this brand only in Latin America, but I am not positive about it so don't take my word on it. It is so well made that  it is crazy the price I payed for it. I think it was like an equivalent of 30 US$ or less (plus it was on sale!)

I hope you guys enjoyed knowing which bag I carried during my torture week!

what bag do you carry?

Update + Current Favorites

Hello there! I have been pretty busy these past days, Midterms are here and I'm studying my butt off!

Gosh I never expected to read so much right now. But in the end it is totally going to be worth it. There is nothing more rewarding than achieving good grades for all the effort you put into it. I believe that having these little gratifications in life is huge to increase your self-esteem.

On another topic, makeup wise, I've been loving my Revlon Creme shadows that I've had for a while now, I am using them pretty much every day, I feel they are super versatile and nice and they don't crease (at least not that I can see them much). I have them in two palettes, Precious Metals and Moonlit Jewels. They are so pretty and good quality too. So if you get a chance to try them, go buy them. (I'm a big Revlon sucker as you may have already noticed!)

See? I've already hit pan in some of them :)

Another favorite of mine has been gummy bears, which are the cure for my Midterm Blues! The amount of sweet is just the best way to keep me going and it makes me a little hyperactive, but well, I think I've had way too many of them today...I feel woozy hahaha!

To go ahead with accessories, I've been loving my black ankle booties, the cow-girl style ones. They are so comfy and are a great to walk and take my exams on! (as if I took my exams running LOL)

I think that's all for today! I hope you are having great weekend!

Sunday Funday: Shopping Spree

Another Sunday is here, and with it comes the last day of September. Cold weather is getting near for some of you and the hot weather is coming the way of some of us. Don't you love the seasonal changes? I do and specially, choosing and buying clothes and accessories according to this.

Today, I'm off for a shopping spree with my lovely mother! We love to do that and, even if we end up buying just a couple of things, it's the most refreshing thing to do. We get to see the new trends and the new colors that are ready to be worn.

I hope you have a great Sunday and have some fun the last day of September!

Fashion Weeks kick-off parties!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

As the week has ended, and everybody has been a little crazy running around (the majority has just began a new semester a few days ago) and being loaded with work you normally don't get when you are just starting, I decided to make a post to make the stressful days be left behind for a while and talk Fashion Weeks. I know, a little late because they all began on Thursday with FNO's (Fashion's Night Out) from LA all the way through Italy.

This events are promoted in Europe and in the United States, they are the biggest ways to celebrate Fashion as a passion and as an art. It is the most profitable industry in the history, giving people jobs and a lifestyle. I love this add the most stylish people out there (Joan Rivers) and the most talented in LA made to promote this party of Fashion.

Some beauty gurus also participated, Elle and Blair Fowler and Dulce Candy.

I thought this is a great way to make people more conscious that Fashion is all over the world and more events should be promoted when the fashion weeks come along.

Here in Latin America we have great designers. Just look at Carolina Herrera and how massive her Fashion Empire has grown. We need to celebrate them too to make a statement and be a little piece of the puzzle too of this great movement.

Going back to topic, this month is going to be great and I will be keeping an eye to the latest trends that will, definitely, come around.

hope you have a great weekend!

Disclaimer: I do not own the video right for the one linked above. I am not in any way affiliated with the event to promote it I am just a loyal follower and Fashion lover. All opinions are my own

Jewelry and me

I have a problem. It just seems that I don't know how to rock some big statement jewelry. I limit myself to some sort of classic pieces. The very basic ones.

I tend to concentrate more on the piece of clothing when looking at creating new looks for different occasions.

The classic pieces I have in my collection are pearl studs.

A silver necklace that was a gift from my parents, with 3 charms that marks great periods of time in my life
(Picture coming soon)

A pearl necklace.

A lot of rings, which I love wearing rings (I won't get tired of them any time soon) but specially I wear a silver and gold ring I got while visiting one of my aunts.
(Picture coming soon)

I am a person of custom, sometimes change just makes me dizzy, but I try my best to embrace it and welcome it as best as I can.

I will try my best to rock pretty jewelry, because every time I go into stores, I go crazy, but then restrain myself because I don't know how to pair it with the clothing I have.

Want it all

It's the first day of September! I hope this month brings great things with it.

It's 7:30 am where I live and I'm sitting here writing this post. Today I discovered that Google Chrome has a Kate Spade's theme! and I went a little crazy and decided to go ahead and install it. Love it. Speaking of Kate Spade, I have been craving some of their stuff.

Thank you The College Prepster for making me smitten about Kate Spade! my wallet is literally scared! hahaha

This are the things I am craving the most!

What do you think?

Headbands

Hey Everyone!

Headbands, I've got quite of a ride with them, i loved them, then hated them, then loved them again and back to hate. Lately, I'm in the love face again.

Ever since Gossip Girl came out, with Queen B using them, I kind of grew into them once again. Don't wanting to spend money on them, I never really had the patience to sit and look for the ones that suited my style just yet.

I'm talking about 3 years ago. 2009. It's the middle of 2012 and I found the best ones, for me. A champagne  one which is a turban kind of style. It is just gorgeous. The other ones are more common, just plain colours and very basics.

Yes, I have very few, but I guess they are the best way to put a twist to your outfit.

Update: Modeling?

Hey everyone!

I have been crazy busy these few weeks. There are some exiting things happening for me that I am not yet allowed to say but I hope soon I will be able to. My best friend since we were 5 years old is studying Communications and Broadcasting and something more fancy involving film making and she's asked for my help to model in one of her group projects. I have worked with her previously and I love how it all worked out.

Now I will do a pictorial like ad campaigns and we'll see how it all works out. I hope we can share some pictures with you and make a new layout for the blog! How cool would that be? Fingers crossed!

Stunning pictorial right?

Gossip Girl's season 5 has ended. I was so torn when the credits rolled and seeing that Blair is FINALLY fighting for Chuck. I wish they will not make us wait too long for the final season, which BTWs is going to be short, as of 10 episodes short. So I will have to wait helplessly for the new season and meanwhile thank God Pretty Little Liars is going to be back soon so my cravings for my all time favourite series is not going to be as bad as it has been this week! If you have any recommendations of what shows to watch, please please please let me know! I am in the hunt of new ones to keep in my mind.

I hope you have a great week and that it started right for you <3

Style Segment: From 1920 to 1930's

Style set it's new boundary-less, more feminine and fashionable self during this period of time, women started to centre more around personal grooming as a plus for fashion. This became a hit since Hollywood started presenting motion pictures with some of our favourite fashionistas of the time.

The magazines Vogue and Harper's Bazaar saw this trait coming and inclined their products into developing fashion statements and slowly became women's most read magazines until this era. Women preferred them because of the tips and tricks they showed in how to achieve the Hollywood Glamour that every girl/woman desired.

During this time period, skirts, suits and bodices where so in and the hem fell from about an inch beneath the knee, one stylist that introduced it was Chanel. The style became baggy, not that much of form fitting as the previous style we saw during the decade of the 1910 all the way to 1920. The zipper began to be utilize more in the latter part of the decade.

During the late years of the decade, in 1928, the style changed again making the hem to the knee and leading to the style of 1930.

Women gained the right to vote and with such liberty they began to carve their way in society, more liberal thoughts run through their minds and (as being a woman my self too) it was fun to experiment with new things that came in the way. The style had to become more comfortable without loosing the class and the status of ladies.

We can never forget about the shoes, the piece that make the outfit fall together smoothly. T-straps where the most used type of shoe because they provided security while dancing the Charleston  and pointy toes and medium to high heel where perfect for the deed.

I hope you guys liked this post, it's always interesting to know how style has changed and what influenced those changes.

Style Segment: From the 1910 to 1920's

Hey Guys!

Style is a huge part of our world. It has been a dynamic environment since the beginning of times and has evolved and transcended to history. I have always wandered what has made it change so much and why some styles are coming back these days. Is it because before there was more of a sense of what was correct for the society and seemed more classy and elegant? Maybe we can find this out through the history of style.

In the time of 1910 all the way through 1920, the style changed more rapidly due to the different  events all the way from the World War I to the sinking of the Titanic. Corsets were rapidly eliminated from the wardrobe scene of women and instead more lose and less fitted because women had to start doing the jobs their men left behind to go fight the war.

Some other influences started to come their way, like the long tunics of the eastern nations and the colours and designs from them had a space built for the occidental societies. The skirts where some flowy and some very tight that they could't walk normally, instead they had to take small steps so that the fabric wont reap.

The shoes went on a different transformation and the stitching and the decorative buttons were present. Hats and scarves and umbrellas to protect from the sun were so in style that had a special section in every women's closet.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, it's part of a series, if you can notice I have tons of them coming your way.

Crazy for wheels

Not many people know this, but cars and me are a great combo. I am like car crazy and for being a girl I consider that I can follow up with a guys conversation about cars and the brands they love and adore. I am a speed racer by heart, so much that my driving teacher has said to me that i needed to take it easy with the acceleration and calm down, but I love the speed, and therefore fast cars are always one thing I loved. I was obsessed with Aston Martins. They are awesome and stylish and when picking the right one, you can look like a lady in a very powerful car.

Some may think that girls behind the wheel are a total danger, maybe some are and some are not, but I am standing up for Girl Power and telling all you boys, we may seem fragile but we know how to work it in our way.

We need the perfect accessories to make the outfits, the hair, the make up to be all well fitted. and a car is like a purse, a very expensive one but is the thing that will make us feel more in control of our lives.

It's been a very random post but I wanted to say more so you can get to know me a little better. And it's been long since I last talked to you guys and just wanted to update you on what was going on. I have a complete explanation about it all on my gettingfitandlight blog.

I'll link it here for you to see.

Love you all

For all of you fashion lovers!

Guys, i am proud to say that I am a FASHION ADDICT. SHOES are the biggest thing for me. I like to mix and match outfits around the shoes that I am going to wear. I've been loving, a 1000% of the polyvore website where you can create the looks you love, find high end fashion pieces play around with them and experiment all the great ways that you can use fashion for.

I have been playing around it for a little time and I have gotten to get a lot of love and found that my inspirations give the class and youthful feels to the outfits I create in the page. You might have already noticed from previous posts like Jade my Mind, Gossip Girl: Blair Waldorf inspired, Pop! of Burgundy and the latest outfit Boho-meets-me. All of these outfits are based around the shoes I find in the page and are just the high-lights of them all and I love them! If only i could have them all !

I think these outfits reflect my personality, I am a girl that is nuts for classy styles of clothes but like to have fun every now and them with the prettiest colours that I find in the pallet.

Gossip Girl: Blair Waldorf Inspired
Jade my mindBoho-meets-ME

I like giving neutral colours to the outfits so that i get to dress them beautifully with the rest of accessories as you can see above.

I recommend you to go visit the polyvore website and check the amazing things they have! you can visit others people profiles and check their collections.

Click here to go check my profile :) and create your own to show that you also are a fashion addict!
