October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I know this month is almost over, like in 2 days, but I just had to write how I have dealt with close cases in my own family.

Breast cancer is something you might think that might never happen to you or the people you love the most. But just to let you know, cancer doesn't recognize and select people. It can happen to you, to a stranger, a friend, anyone really.

My story, well the story of my family, begins when I was 6 years old. My father's sister (my very loved auntie) was detected breast cancer at a very advanced stage. There was nothing to be done, she had just to wait and see what happened. My cousin was left devastated, she lost her mom at a very early age. she was only 10.

My mom's cousin, the mom of my best friend and my very own cousin, was detected breast cancer too, when we both were 10. 4 years later after loosing my other aunt. I couldn't believe it. It was hard, but luckily doctors detected it while it was at an early stage. She received Chemo-therapy and went through 2 surgical procedures to remove the tumor. It all went great, she is still with us and has a pretty good quality of life. She is a survivor. Now she has officially beaten cancer, she has 12 years with no sign of a new flourishing cancer cells. She is with us.

A year ago, one of my grandma's sisters, they are 8 siblings and which 7 are women, received the diagnose that she had a 5 cm tumor in her right breast. She had cancer. In the family we all thought that this couldn't be happening. 10 years later after having one member being a survivor, another one got sick. Just our luck. Very difficult news. She received Chemo-therapy, underwent surgical procedures, and received radio-therapy. She had some complications because of the surgeries, but she is here with us. She really is. Now she is helping one of her daughters to prepare for her move. She couldn't be better.

After a few months that we got the news of my aunt's diagnose, we were still trying to process it. When something else occurred. My grandma went to the doctor to her annual check up. They detected she had a small bump in her left breast. She had it tested. It was cancer. 2 cases in a row, inside our family. We were still not used to it.

This last case is very close, I live with her, I see what she's going through,  I hate it, and at the same time, I can't face the fact that she is not her normal self. It is true when they say cancer affects the whole family not just the sick member of it.

The moods, the stress, the faces you have to handle are just all combined and makes it more difficult. I can speak about this experience from my point of view and the perspective of what we are going through. They say that people need to make a good environment, always keep the problems aside, but let me tell you, saying it is easier than actually doing so. You have to be strong, but when you are crushed in the inside, it becomes more difficult by the day.

Even though you want to cry, you have to suck it up and put a mask, trying to make the mood less charged and lighten it up. It is so different from what you hope it to be.

I love my grandma, I couldn't imagine how it would be without her. But luckily, she is recovering well, I see her more like herself. She underwent 2 surgeries at the beginning to remove the tumor. She received Chemotherapy and now she is receiving her radiotherapy. She ends her treatment mid November. She will be fine. She is fine.

With this post, I am trying to say, that it is important to prevent it. There are many webpages, centers that you can go to, hospitals and else where that can guide you on how you can detect it early so that you can get a fast solution.

Breast cancer can attack anyone, and has no distinction on age. The earlier you discover something, the faster you can treat it and make it less harmful to your health.

Share the awareness, live right.

Sunday Funday: Halloween Candy

Happy Sunday everyone!

I think people, at this time of year, is going crazy about shopping for Halloween candy, and to be honest I am too! I love candy, that is one of my guiltiest of pleasures, if I can find some good candy well WELCOME! today I went grocery shopping with my parents, and I just went coo-coo in the candy isle.

There are tons and tons of nice candy this time of year, my favorites are Ambrujos (they belong to a Peruvian brand) and specially like the Hechizos branch. They are candy flavored coke, a red soda and inca kola. Typical flavors that only come out this time of year and I await eagerly to get my hands on them.

And while writing this, I am indulging in some of them (LOVE), what else can I say? I have my very own Kryptonite hahaha

I hope you guys are having a great weekend and enjoy it while it lasts <3

have a nice day!

Sunday Funday: October Decor

Today I thought that you might like to know how do I prepare for Halloween, actually I don't tend to do much decorations around the house, I feel like if I put too much of them, specially the scary ones, I would spook the people away and I don't like that. The one thing I do to get in the mood is decorate the one thing I see the most...My computer screen. I put some images reminding me that is a festive month and is just cheerful to think that some magic may happen through it!

As busy as I get with university, I love those little reminders to make me a little happy and less stressed. This is the current image I have on my desktop.

Isn't it a cute reminder? with the moon as the background, the witch's hat and broom next to some pumpkins and those scattered candies. It is just perfection for Halloween.

How do you decorate your place for this festive month?

Red Eyeliner?

Hey Everyone!

(see what I did there? #oldybutgoodie)

A couple of months ago I was at University and had an event at night, I had planed that I wanted to wear a bold Red Lip to that party and wanted to apply some tips and tricks I had learned on YouTube. With the little time to do leisure things that day, I asked my mother, who was conveniently at a hair dresser, to go pick up a red lip liner to match my lipstick, she knew the shade because she helped me pick it up, so there was no problem. At least I thought that.

When I got home, I had to get ready super fast and she got me that red pencil liner. I though "Great! it's the perfect shade!". I was getting all prepared to do my perfect Red Lip...when I noticed that it was an eyeliner...I never thought they had them in those colors. I didn't had time to think it through and just applied it to my lips and worked with it. If it can go on your lids it can't be bad for your lips (I guess).

So here the thing is, what am I going to do with a red eyeliner? I was in such a dilemma with it that I haven't use it yet. I was researching on the web and found some awesome blogs that showed that it is a kind of wearable color if you know how to work it through.

In the picture above, London MakeUp Girl shows how to work with it and, in my opinion, looks good. Although I believe that somewhat it makes the eye look irritated and swollen.

Another blog I visited had found a Red eyeliner in gel. This looks pretty awesome, ready? go!

It looks so polished and nice. I know all my sources are from London, but I find that they are more risqué when it comes to all this new findings and fashion ordeals (all Europeans in general). The gel eyeliner is from the brand Inglot.

Here is a picture from the product. Also from The London Beauty Review

My take on wearing red eyeliner (when I finally decide to try it) would be making a thicker line of it and the lining with black the lash line with a liquid liner. I think it would tone the edginess a little more and still look good.

What do you think? Yay or Nay? let me know in the comments below :)

Bye August!

Happy end of the month people!

It's been a great month (but also so sad) . From the beginning to the end. I loved going back to University and switching up my style a bit. The cooler months are the best for me, I love bundling up in warm clothes, and layering is my favourite statement.

I have so much things going on these months and upcoming weeks, from reading to events that I'm super excited for. When the time comes, I might be able to share them with you! I have nothing set in stone for some projects but lets see what come along!

In general, I hope September is as good as August and that it will open some more doors for me.

I hope you had a great month and that are enjoying every second of life.

Sunday Funday: Semester is O.V.E.R

Hey everyone!

I am so glad to tell you all that I am officially a free person! No more dreadful university assignments, no more hard core studying! For a month and a half at least, which is more than enough to have a refreshing gasp of air and just have fun and catch up with everything that I wanted to do through the semester but couldn't get it done, leisure wise.

July is flying by, which by the way, is my BIRTHDAY MONTH! eeeeeep! I am turning 21 this Tuesday July the 10th and are just too excited. I have no big plans for that day, just spend time with family and have a nice dinner, but the weekend is definitely the time to enjoy the festivities with the good friends.

Now that the semester is over, we had an awesome time with friends last night, I caught up with my best friend X, that's how we call each other, she calls me S and I call her X...weird but we've known each other since pre-school and she's like my sister from another parents. And to finish the night off, we gathered around at a friend's house and had some drinks and chatted and played some games. It was a great day, after the horrific 2 finals I had to take on a Saturday.

This is going to be a good winter break. I can feel it. Now I have to go do laundry and clean my room that has turned upside down this week.

I leave you with our Chilli's dessert.

Have a great day!
